Photodraw won't run on XP

I have tried everything I can remember to get Photodraw to run on XP and it
won't. I did this once - so I know it can be done. Tried installing with the
photodrw folder off the C: drive. Did uninstall, install while in Safe Mode.
Tried running in Win98/ME and Win 95 modes. Tried "run as" and set admin
rights. Still get the "Microsoft PhotoDraw Application has encountered a
problem and needs to close." error message. Does anyone else have another
option to get PD to run on XP?

So what's the purpose of MS building in compatibility modes if they don't
work? The only difference between my old XP and my new XP machine (besides
better hardware) is SP2 on the new. So does this mean compatibility mode
does not work in SP2?

Compatibility mode is an attempt at allowing "old software" to run under
the new operating system. The success achieved is entirely dependent on
the "operating system features" the "old software" attempts to use. As
security issues are resolved some of those "operating system features"
no longer can be accessed. The old software then ceases to work. Comes
down to convenience vs. security.
