Problems installing Office 2007 on Vista RTM

J

jdbell

I have a clean installation of Vista RTM and am trying to install Office 2007.

The installation gets about a quarter of the way through when I get a folder
browser dialog stating "Setup cannot find Proofing.en-us\Proof.es\Proof.cab".

I can see the files on the disk, but when I point to the folder and click OK
I get a message box stating "Invalid location.". The installation will not
continue.

This is a brand new clean installation of Vista, and I am running as
Adminstrator. I am installing from an ISO (downloaded from MSDN) mounted in
Daemon Tools which I successfully used to install on this machine before I
flattened it to install Vista.

I have also tried copying all of the files to a folder on the hard disk and
running the installation from there, but the same thing happens.

I've seen similar issues reported with Office 2007 Beta 2 but as far as I
can see it relates to re-installing. This is the first time this has been
installed.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance,
John.

Setup cannot continue because a required file is either corrupted o
not available. Run setup again from the original source disk o

Any help is appreciated

You are trying to install Office RTM?
I'd try installing it by mapping the ISO directly instead of burning it
on a disk. See the digital signature entry on
http://pschmid.net/blog/2006/11/13/80 what I'd suggest you try.

He does mention that he's installing from the ISO, not the CD, though I
don't see why installing from CD (given that it's burned correctly) should
be a problem.

I totally overread that part...Thanks for pointing it out!
There have been issues related to digital signatures when people tried
to install from the CD that got resolved by installing from the ISO
directly.
