Rule to delete old emails?

Email Client: pop

I created a rule that says for the Sent Mail folder, if date sent is older than 45 days, then delete it. It doesn't work. Why?

You should use a schedule, not a rule. Rules cannot do this for you, as they
are applied to messages when they come in, or when they are sent, i.e. when
they are by default only a few seconds old. Try Tools>Schedules and create a
schedule that empties the Sent Items folder based on your criteria. You can
set it to run at startup, when you quit Entourage, or at regular intervals.

Thank you, Michael. You'd think, after using Entourage for all these years, that I would have known that.
