starting a new note container

Is there a keyboard shortcut or some other way to start a new note container
(other than moving the cursor to a new place on a page)? I want to be able
to just type independent entries and have some way to isolate each in its own
container without having to post-process the items. Thanks

No. There is no such feature.

Opening a new place for typing new things needs the mouse.

In ON 2007, I find that if I press the 'down arrow' key twice I get a
new container. The only exception is that sometimes when I am using
bullets, this does not seem to work -- but other times using bullets,
it does; haven't been able yet to determine what might be different so
that I sometimes get a different result when I try to get a new
container after a bulleted group of text.

You should first hit the 'Enter' key for a return to the left margin
if you want the text of the new container to start at the left
margin. (When you use the 'down arrow', the cursor drops down
vertically from the current cursor position.)
