I have an (well, actually several) employee whom is no longer with us,
serving the role of a Team Member. This team member was included on a total
of three MSPS projects. This team member has actual work, applied to task(s)
on each project. Once they are gone, we inactivate them.
The problem(s):
1) when the resource is deactivated, (set to inactive) every time one of the
three projects are opened, a warning is given, stating, "This project has
inactive enterprise resources with remaining work." So I click on ok to get
rid of the error. I then pull up Resource Usage view in my project, which
shows task details, across projects, showing the remaining work for each
task. And wouldn't you know, I forgot to zero out this resources remaining
work. So I do so. In fact, I open up every project indicated that have
remaining work for this resource and zero out ALL remaining work on ALL three
projects. <hope you're still with me> Save/Publish/Close/Checkin.
The error is persistant. So I reopen one of my projects and verify that each
task, has zero work for this team member, and sure enough, on the task level,
each task shows zero remaining work for that resource. However, opening
resource sheet view, still shows remaining work....not on my project, but on
the other three.
Best way to explain it is this....
Project = QA operational 2008
Resource Usage looks like this: column 1= task column2=remaining work
column3=planned work
QC Administration 0 hrs 0 hrs
Performance Testing 0 hrs 0 hrs
Functional Test Automation 0 hrs 0 hrs
QA Processes 0 hrs 0 hrs
Weekly IT QC Meeting 0 hrs 0 hrs
Weekly IT QA Team Meeting 0 hrs 0 hrs
QA Tools Support 0 hrs 0 hrs
Other projects and commitments 118 hrs 118 hrs
MSPS Implementation and Rollout 3 hrs 3 hrs
My Timesheet 7 hrs 7 hrs
My Timesheet 1.5 hrs 1.5 hrs
My Timesheet 10 hrs 10 hrs
SAFARI Corporate 48 hrs 48 hrs
My Timesheet 3.5 hrs 3.5 hrs
Claim Form Set One 41 hrs 41 hrs
My Timesheet 4 hrs 4 hrs
Project 2: Claim Form Set One (above shows 41 hrs remaining)
Performance Testing Knowledge Transfer 0h 41h
Other projects and commitments 455h 455h
MSPS Implementation and Rollout 3h 3h
QA Operational 2008 378h 378h
My Timesheet 7h 7h
My Timesheet 1.5h 1.5h
My Timesheet 10h 10h
SAFARI Corporate 48h 48h
My Timesheet 3.5h 3.5h
My Timesheet 4h 4h
If you look at the two above lists, you'll see in the first group, Claim
Form Set One 41 hrs 41 hrs. Yet, opening up the Claim Form Set One project,
shows in the second list...Performance Testing Knowledge Transfer 0h
41h. Remaining work is ZERO!
I don't get it. How do I fix this? Is there a better process for
inactivating employees? Am I missing something?
Also, worthy of noting on this post, is in the above lists, MSPS
Implementation and Rollout shows 3hrs remaining work. As we scroll across the
resource usage for this task for this resource, we cannot find the remaining
3hrs...can anyone explain?
Another question, I'll ask, but also will post separately, is where are the
Timesheet tasks coming from???
Thanks in advance!!
