Word 2000 crashes when save

Everytime I try to save a document, either using the "save" or "save as"
options, Word 2000 crashes. I get an error message that says "Microsoft Word
for Windows has encountered a problem and needs to close."

Hoping it would do something, I went to the "detect and repair" option under
the help menu and it looked like it was doing something, but that obviously
didn't detect and repair my saving problem.

I'm pretty computer illiterate, but does anyone have a solution that could
help me? Thanks so much!
