1000 Points to whomever can solve this problem

it's me again.....

Right I have been pretty lucky so far with getting *free* advise on how
to use MS Project, so I am going to push my luck...

The scenario:

-I am setting up a project where each task applies to three different
locations. The problem is that I don't want to enter the task three
times (once for each location) into the gantt view. Paradoxically I
also don't want to enter the task and the three locations as outline
(that would clog up my screen even more).

What I have tried so far:

What I did was to go into the Bar Style option and create new bars for
each of the three locations. I then was able to display one task and
three bars next to it.
Howver this was not good enough as it made the relationships between
the tasks impossible to define AND it also makes it impossible (for
someone with my level of experience) to track the finances using such a
system.

What I want:

What I need is to enter the task and the three locations as outlines
BUT then somehow hide the subtasks in the task column WHILST retaining
the gannt bars.

I promise I will go to church on sunday if someone can solve my
problem....

Many thanks

(analogous to having to cut hair for three different people)

Hi,

Select the subtasks
Click the task information button on the toolbars
In the general tab, select the "Roll up Gantt Bar to summary" checkbox
Double-click the summary task
Task Information, general, cjheck "Show rolled up Gantt Bars"

Good Luck

Jan,

Thank you so much, you have solved my problem. I don't think I would
have figured that one out on my own.
