The Web Interface doesn't support attachments, apparently...

You'll need to either connect to the newsgroups using
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.publisher - this will open in
your newsreader (Outlook Express in Windows by default), which will allow
you to download the attachments. This interface is MUCH quicker than using
the web interface, in my experience.

Alternatively, provide a munged email address (e.g. the UNDERSCORE nerd AT
nospam DOT mvps DOT org), and I can email you the files.

Ed, I can't figure out what you are telling me to do. I went to the
newsgroup address under public.publisher and never could get the message or
get signed up. Outlook is not my default email reader. How do I do this?

"Alternatively, provide a munged email address (e.g. the UNDERSCORE nerd AT

Thanks for all your help.

Outlook Express also functions as a newsgroup reader. This allows you to
connect to the newsgroup through the software, rather than on the website,
which allows you to download the attachments. Microsoft Outlook will not
function as a newsgroup reader.

If you open Outlook Express (or another product such as Mozilla Thunderbird
or Forte Agent - instructions here are for Outlook Express), go to Tools >
Accounts.

On the right, click the Add button. Click News.

Type your display name (probably "AKK" or something), click Next.

Type an email address. You can use any email address, doesn't have to be
yours, doesn't have to be real, and it is recommended that you "munge" the
email address in some way (for example, replace "@" with "AT" and "." with
"DOT", or add "NOSPAM" in front of the domain name (for example,
edDOTbennettATnospamntlworldDOTcom instead of (e-mail address removed)).
Click Next.

In the next box, type "msnews.microsoft.com" (no quotes). Click Next.

Click Finish. Click "Yes", when you are asked if you would like to download
messages for the news account you just added.

Wait for the newsgroups to download.

In the "Display newsgroups which contain" box, type
"microsoft.public.publisher" (no quotes).

In the box below, double-click "microsoft.public.publisher". Click OK.

Click the microsoft.public.publisher header on the list on the left. Wait
for messages to download. If not all of the messages download (you see xxx
not downloaded" on the status bar at the bottom), click "Get next headers"
on the toolbar a few times.

Scroll down until you find "1500 page Publisher document won't open". Click
[+]. Click the message that is marked as "90KB" on the right-hand side,
this will download the message and should allow you to save the attachments.

If it doesn't allow you to save the attachments, click Forward to forward
the message, and save the attachments from the message edit window that
appears.

"Alternatively, provide a munged email address (e.g. the UNDERSCORE
--I don't
know what you are telling me here. Ü

Post your email address here, and I will email the files to it.

HOWEVER, it is not recommended to post your email address in its normal form
to the internet, as you will instantly start to get spam and viruses sent to
your email address, so you have to "munge it". See above for instructions.
