2003 Buggy.......

Carole

I just installed Office 2003. I am getting a lot of error messages:

A runtime error has occured. Do you wish to debug? It seems to occur in
different lines in different programs. Is there a solution?
Thanks, Carole

Hi Carole,

If you're sure that your antivirus package is up to date then in Internet Explorer in the Advanced Page of the Options use the [x]
Disable script debugging setting and see if that helps.

Thanks Bob, I did what you said...and it just changed the "format" of the
error message. I am still getting them. Any other ideas? I had heard on
the "ScreenSavers" TV show that the new office had over 400 bugs. That was
after I had already bought the program. Is Microsoft working to correct
these and will there be a patch or update available?

Hi Carole,

All major commerical software has a certain amount of 'bugs'. Some are bothersome, some are annoying, some are a matter of 'I don't
like it that way' <g>. Those that cause problems MS does address in periodic updates (http://officeupdate.com) . Bug 'counts' are
not always reliable measures of the product.

For the error messages in your situation, if you're getting those on websites then it can be Internet Explorer or Windows settings
that may need to be addressed, but you generally wouldn't be seeing errors in other 'programs' from installing MS Office 2003 if
you've updated your other software and graphics card drivers and Windows on a regular basis. If you have a specific message and a
specific situation that may help folks here address it for you.
