I just bout a new laptop. It came with Office 2003 trial version. After a
week of using the trial version I decided to go ahead and purchase the
upgrade. When I try to convert the trial version a message comes up saying
that I do not have a prior version. I belive I do. I have been using the
trial version and the documents say to convert the trial I should buy the
upgrade. Any suggestions???

No, you do not have a prior version. Office 2003 Trial is not a qualifying
product for upgrade. See http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=832288 for a
list of programs that are qualifying products for upgrade. If you don't have
one of these, you will have to purchase a full version of Office 2003.

In the Microsoft 60 day trial readme, there is a note at the bottom that
says, "If you choose to purchase Office....you are eliglible for the Version
Upgrade product and pricing." Also when you navigate through the online
purchase menus and you get to the end it only tries to sell you the upgrade
vesion at $239.00 for an online keycode. Both of these come from Microsoft.
These are two different instances that lead me to believe that I only needed
the Upgrade. I went out and purchased a retail version of the upgrade. Are
you positive that I need the full version?

I made the post below and then went to the address you listed in your e-mail
and looked at the programs. On the list is Frontpage. If I was to install a
copy of Frontpage, that was licenced to me and everything, would my
understanding that I could use that as a previous version and get my Office
Standard 2003 Upgrade working???? I really appreciate the help. Thanks.
