2007 Outlook Add-in - Does it work for anyone??

Hello all. We have been using Project Server 2007, SP2, April CU for five
months now. We have had major issues with the Office Project Server 12
Add-in for Outlook since we started. Issues include: please reinstall error,
COM issues, random disabling, runtime 91 and 380 errors, locking up while
importing/exporting, not updating all tasks to server, etc.

We have worked with many MSFT engineers over the last three months to try
and resolve the issues. They have escalated the issue a quite a few times
and have never truly fixed any of the issues.

I have read quite a few instances on the intermittent issues as I’ve
described above and from MVP’s stating that it is not advised to use the
Add-in. My question is has anyone out there used the Add-in successfully
with no issues?

Also for you MVP’s – do any of you recommend its use or is it advised to
just use the PWA to enter time and % complete?

Thank you,
One Frustrated PM

I don't know too many people who actually use the Project Server add-in for
Outlook, mainly because they have found the tool to be error prone and just
plain flakey, as you have found at your company. Instead, a nice workaround
is to simply display the My Tasks page as a folder in Outlook. This allows
the user to access the complete information on the My Tasks page in PWA
while working in Outlook. This is a manual way of doing what we used to do
in Project Server 2003. Refer to the following Project Server Help blog
post on how to do this:

Hope this helps.

When we implemented PWA 2007, i set it up so that IT uses PWA direclty and
business user who are not on project as much as IT use Outlook. Yes, we've
had the errors but not to a large degree and for the most part once the
office repair is done it's gone away (with a few exceptions).

Our users have been posting their time for projects to outlook since April
of this year.
