A Question and Comment About Outlook 2007

I was so excited when you released Outlook 2007, but with all of the problems
I've experienced on my try-out I might aswell stick with Outlook 2003 (and
office 2003 for that matter)

Here's the main problem, which I'm sure is all over this discussion forum
but 259 pages of comments and questions doesn't help me, not does paying
£40.00 for instant help on a try-out....

Send and receive is a reall pain in the proverbial. I'm constantly hit with
Task 'xxxxxxx' - Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC0F) : 'The connection to
the server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact your server
administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'

My server is fine, my server adminstrator reports no errors and their
response was that this is a known Microsoft problem. If this is a known
problem, why on earth hasn't Microsoft issued a patch or update for this
problem? I've tried to find updates but there are none, so when will
Microsoft appease potential buyers of their software by making their software
work?

I do get emails via Outlook 2007 but it's very sporadic and not very regular
(once every 8-12 hours - imagine waiting 8-12 hours for emails!)

Thank god for webmail.

I won't purchase Outlook 2007 now and I'm really disappointed.

The irony is that I work with Microsoft to develop new partnerships. Sad but
true.

No problem here with Outlook 2007 - are you SURE your isp is not telling
porkies? can you tellnet into your mail server?

That's your ISP - NOT Outlook - How the hell CAN it be Outlook? Outlook gets
what's on the server.....

Don't let your ISP get in the way of a good story.....

I've got to admit, I'm quite offended by the wry nature of your reply. I'm
looking for answers to questions posed by the post. It's not a mud-slinging
exercise in who is telling lies, I'm merely trying to ascertain that if
Microsoft have known issues with static and dynamic IPs and the delivery of
mail thereof then why haven't they cured the error. I will pass on your
comments to my server hosts and await concrete solution sto what is a common
problem with Outlook 2007.

MS has no problems here - try telnetting into your mail server. Try pinging
your mail server. Try tracert to your server.

What ISP are you using?

No it's NOT a "common problem" with Outlook 2007. What makes you think it
is?

We are not Microsoft. The people posting and replying here are
non-Microsoft employees, user of the software like you.

You can always give the Outlook Performance Update a shot (see link
below my signature). I doubt though that it will help. This sounds more
like a connection problem, so either your email server or your Internet
connection.

I have exactly the same problem. Are you also connecting to pop3 or a
exchange server ? Telnet works fine - there is nothing wrong wit
access to the ISP or the mailbox itself.

i think that you're right to assume its something wrong with outloo
2007. I have outlook 2003 with exacltly the same server settings o
another machine and it works like a dream.

I am on vista O/s - what are you on, I wonder if its the issue

I have exactly the same issue and we have eliminated the server and ISP
as mentioned in my previous post. The fact that outlook 2003 works with
the same settings seems to point to the fact that outlook 2007 could be
the source of the issue.

it could be a combination of the O/s and 2007. Perhaps if I could ask
what electricgeisha's o/s is we can all work to getting to the bottom
of this.

hey Gordon, how was that ? anything constructive you can help me with
to improve ?
