A telephone number field in a form, how do I create the picture f.

I am creating a form in Word. I want to "mask" or create an entry "picture"
for a telephone number such as (###) ###-####, and a date ##/##/##, and a
numberic entry with comma's every 3 numbers. Can anyone advise me as to
where that masking goes on the field properties? Is their documenatation on
this?

Thanks

With the form unlocked, double click the form field, set the type as number
or date as required and put the mask in the number format box.

Graham, I understand unlocking the form, clicking on the form field and I
can see setting the type and size and I see defaults and formates. However,
I find no examples of formating a date with "/" and when I enter MM/DD/YY I
get an error that says you must have a date? I have tried MM'/'DD'/'YY and
MM"/"DD"/" and "MM/DD/YY' and "MM'/'dd'/'yy" and it does not seem to work. I
do not even know where to start with the telephone number masking # "("###")"
###-####. Do I need quotes around "-" so it will not subtract? Does this go
in the format space. Does it mask the input of the field or format it after
input? There is not instruction on this anywhere. I appreciate your
assistance with this issue.

With dates you can pick the format from the drop down and the format
dd/MM/yy will be in the list depending on your regional settings, for other
regions, you can type MM/dd/yy (no quotes - case sensitive) in the box to
give you what you want.

With the phone numbers, enter it exactly as you had it in the original post
i.e. (###) ###-####
(no quotes).

The switches don't mask the input, they format the output when you tab out
of the field. In the case of the date you can enter the date in any standard
date format and it will be converted to the layout shown.

Don't forget to set the field type to number or date as appropriate.
