Access 2003 error isam

i have installed microsft office 2003 pro and chose full install for the
installation setup, when i am using access and try to convert a database to
access 97 i get a pop up error "couldn't find installable ISAM".
This also happens when i try to link an access 97 database into my vb6 front
end program.
Any ideas
