Access '97 will not close

I've got 4 users who have Access '97. When they exit the application
I'm responsible for, the application does close, but Access remains
running. They have to use Task Manager to close.

IT reinstalled Access '97, and my application runs fine, but they have
the same problem. Sometimes Access shows up twice on the task bar, and
they wind up having to use Task Manager, or just reboot.

Has anyone had trouble with this?. My other 20 users do not have any
problem.

Thanks for any help!

It somewhat strange that only a few machines are having this problem, I
suspect they have some kind of virus protection software running. Or,
perahps some kind of software that's causing some kind of interference to MS
access.

I know that there's a problem with access 2003, and computers running pchelp
desk (a verson of unltra VNC - ms-access will not shutdown correctly). I
don't know if this applies to a97 however.

There is a known problem in which access 97 does not shut down correctly.
That problem is outlined here.

However in your case, you're saying that this is only occuring on some
machines, so it's hard to think that the above bug who would only appiye to
some macchines.

On the other hand it's very possible that you're not running the latest
patch release on those particular machines. for all your machines you wanna
absolutely make sure that you're running the sr2b update/patch for
ms-access, and also the jet35sp update.

Thanks - I will check these items out. It seems likely that the IT
reinstall did not include the updates (of which I was unaware).

Boy, you sure know your stuff!
