Access DB slower on one computer only

The Dude

Hello!

I have an Access DB that runs nicely on every computer except for one that
will hog for 20 minutes where it should take only 1 or 2 minutes.

This computer has access to the network and runs at the same speed as other
computers, and the Access forms are displayed as quickly as on other
computers. So I assume it is only an Access settings regarding queries as all
computers are the same brand and model.

Would you guys have any idea?

Thanks

I would suspect a network problem of some kind - bad NIC card, bad switch,
etc. AND if that is the case, you might want to get it fixed before it
manages to corrupt the data in the database.

If you swap computer locations (move computer A to Desk B and Computer B to
desk A) does the problem still exist at the location or at the computer?

If the problem still exists on the same computer, then that computer needs to
be checked out. Check software versions, virus protection (is it set to check
Access data when it comes across the network?), etc.

Compact On Close is considered a very bad thing to use, so I hear...

Maybe he could do it manually from Tools -> Database Utilities -> Compact
and Repair and see if it makes a difference.
