Access: Input Mask and Inserting Current Date

P

I set up a text box that is tied to a field defined as Short Date with an
input mask of 99/99/0000;0;_ To make data entry easier, I have a command
button that inserts the current date into this text box using the Access VB
code: Text164.Text = Date

If I have no input mask the text box's properties, the command button works,
but if I include the input mask it does not insert the date. I have tried
various options on the input mask but it does not work. Since there are many
dates on the form that the user updates, I want the input mask so all dates
are entered consistently. Any ideas?
