Access security upon database creation

Sebastian

Hello,

Everytime I try to either create a new database in Access
2000 or open an existing one which does not have security
on a specific machine I get prompted for a user name and
password. If a copy the database to another PC, it works
no problem. Any idea on how to fix this?

Thanks,

Sebastian

Easily fixed. I do not have Access 2000, but I think you should be able to
run the Workgroup Administrator from Tools > Security. If it is not there,
search for something like wrkgadm.exe.

When you run the workgroup administrator, create a new workgroup file. When
finished, start MS Access and see if the logon window is gone.

Actually, he should find and rejoin the system.mdw workgroup, unless he is
attempting to secure a database. Creating a new workgroup file will most
likely land him back in the same trouble as he has now ...

Hi,
May be you joined a worgroup different with the default
workgroup SYSTEM.MDW (in Win2K, you can find this group in
C:\WinNT\System32\
Can you rejoin the default workgroup.
