Is there a way to create a button that will automatically either send
the document in an email or run a macro that will???

File - Send to? Seems pretty simple to do that without going thru a lot of
trouble to create a macro. Did you look to see if you can add this to your
Toolbar?

Let me clerify what I am trying to do.

I am trying to create a form to give to managers in my company to fill
out for new personel. What I would like is have a button within that
form that they can simply click on when they have finished filling it
out and that will automatically send it out basically. I am aware of
the File - Send To option...but my boss wants a button...grrrrrr. And
I did try creating a macro, but I didn't have much luck with it.
Although, it was my first attempt, so I'm not really sure that I am
doing it right.

The boss wants.......'nuff said. Sometimes they want the world and don't
care that you end up with even more work than you already have. Although I
can't offer you a solution I really do understand. We can only do what we
can. Good luck.

I understand..and thanks for trying to help. I haven't given up yet.
I can't believe there's no simple way to do this. But in a way I can
also. In any case, thanks again for the help!

I'm sure you can make a button, I've seen them. Have you Googled to see
what's out there? Google is your friend - most of the time. ;-)

Yes, I have tried Google. I have spent about 4 hours today working on
this and have gotten nowhere really. That's when I decided to post a
message here and in Microsoft's newsgroup. But no luck yet.

the directions but you have to pay a membership fee so that you can view the
solution.

OOOOH - try this

I *have* had to do what the boss wants though.-) )--JoAnn PaulesMVP Microsoft [Publisher]<[email protected]> wrote in messageYes, I have tried Google. I appreciate the links, but they all seem to show how to add a print
button. I however need a email button. I tried to use the
suggestions, but couldn't seem to get them to email still.

I'm sorry they don't work for you. If I happen to see anything, I'll pass it
along but it's nothing something I foresee myself doing in the immediate
future. (Dinner and a good night's sleep are about all I can think of right
now.)

I found this site: http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/InterDev/SendMail.htm

which says to put the following into the VB portion of the document:
Activedocument.HasRoutingSlip = True
With Activedocument.RoutingSlip
.Subject = "New subject goes here"
.AddRecipient "(e-mail address removed)"
.AddRecipient "(e-mail address removed)"
.Delivery = wdAllAtOnce
End With
Activedocument.Route

but when I click the command button that I created, nothing happens.
This is the code that's in the button:
Private Sub CommandButton1_Click()
ActiveDocument.HasRoutingSlip = True
With ActiveDocument.RoutingSlip
.Subject = "TEST"
.AddRecipient "(e-mail address removed)"
.Delivery = wdAllAtOnce
End With
ActiveDocument.Route
End Sub
