Add resource from Outlook

Hi,

I have done some searching, but haven't come across this problem and
resolution for it:

If I add a resource from Outlook, I find that the name field includes the
contact's e-mail address. I went to Outlook and changed the Display field so
that it only includes the contact's name and tried again, but this time *no*
e-mail address was imported, although the name field was correct!

I'm using Project 2003 with Outlook 2003.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello Dee,

I'm afraid I don't have any solution for you, just a comment that I see
the same thing when importing from an Outlook Contact list. I do not
have an exchange server here to test, but does it make a difference if
you use the Global Address book from the exchange server?

I tested using Project Pro 2003 with SP-2 and Outlook 2003 with SP-2.

If you intend to use the email address and want the Name field to show
only the Name portion you could use a formula in one of the spare text
fields to return only the name and then copy/paste from the text column
back into the Name column. In quick testing the formula below works to
show only the person's name from the email address:

Left([Email Address],Instr([Email Address],"(")-1)

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Thanks Julie. I just managed to get this post - couldn't seem to access it
before - just showed a blank page.

I will take your comments into consideration and do some testing and get
back to you if I find a resolution.
