Adding drop down menus to a spreadsheet

How do I add drop down menus at the top of each column that will both store
and allow for easy retrieval of any entries in the cells beneath?

You can use an AutoFilter (Data>Filter>AutoFilter). There are
instructions in Excel's Help files, and here:
