Select one of the duration cells and Format | Cells | Number (tab) -
you will probably find that the cells are formatted as text. You could
add a formula in a helper column such as:
=VALUE(D2)
assuming D2 is the first duration cell, then copy down. You should then
be able to sum on this column. You could fix the values and copy over
the original data, if you want to retain the same layout that you have
now.
Hope this helps.

Tried that. No go. Get formula error type message or 00:00:00.
Probably me!

Don't highlight.
Just select a cell under your data and hit the sigma.
You may have to paint the time format into it, or even format it Custom
with [h]:mm:ss, to prevent the cell from tipping over at
24h

| Hi
| I'm using excel '97.
| I have a spread sheet with durations on it (vodafone) and want to add
them.
| Is there any way to do this?
| When I highlight and hit sigma it tries to enter nothing in the top
| selection instead of the total at the bottom.
| Cheers BB
