HELP! I am using Word 2003 and am having trouble with autoshapes. If I add a
shape and add text to it then go and make a new shape an click to add text,
the text from the first shape is automatically added.

Also, many of the text in these shapes, although are visible on screen, will
not print.

Is this happening in just one (or a couple) document? Or is it happening all
the time?

Hi Cindy
It only happens in a few documents, which leads me to believe that it is a
corruption of some kind in the document template.

I agree. That means you need to recreate the template. And any critical documents
that you still need that are exhibiting the problem. It would probably also be a
good idea to have Word generate a new copy of Normal.dot so that the new template
starts out as "clean" as possible.

Thanks, going forward that's what I have done, but I was really hoping to
rescue the affected files.

When I say "recreate", I do mean to copy/paste all but the
last paragraph mark into a new document. And, in this case,
one would need to recreate the AutoShapes, as well, of
course. But the text within them can be copied/pasted.

If there are a lot of documents, it might be worthwhile to
program a macro for part of this.
