Hi,
I created and edit my site with FrontPage and I'd like to retrofit an
article rating system to my articles so I can get some feedback about the
popularity and usefulness of the articles.

All my pages are .htm, not .asp pages and my google rating is pretty good so
I don't want to mess that all up.

Is there any way I can add a simple rating system without changing all my
pages into .asp pages?

TIA.

Hi Bob,

The question I have is once they rate the article do you wish to take them
some place else, another page, or leave them at the article? In either
case, you'd create a form that points to a ASP page, no need to change your
page. The ASP page could display the results, show different content or
return to the original page.

I'd like ideally to have a rating at the bottom of the article like 3.6 out
of 5 or whatever. The user would choose their rating with radiobuttons on
the bottom of the article and vote, then the rating in the article would
update next time the page refreshed.

I could add a frame I suppose but I'd prefer not to.

Bob,

Just use a form that points to an asp page would return script code to
display the current percentage.
E.g.,

<form action="StoreRating.asp" method="Post" >
<input type="radio" name="rating" value="2.0" >
....
<input type="radio" name="rating" value="10.0">
</form>
<script type="text/javascript" src="GetAverageRating.asp" >
</script>

The ASP page StoreRating.asp would just store the page rating into a
database.

The ASP page GetAverageRating.asp would read the ratings from the database
and compute the average rating, etc returning Javascript code to display it.

We use this techique on WebsUnlimited.com to display pricing of our various
products while maintaining .htm pages.
