Administrative Backup - Adminitrative Restore

Dear all,
I am trying to understand mechanics behind the backup process from the
database administration section on server settings of project server 2007.
Explaining better I scheduled an administrative backup everyday of all
objects, today someone delete his project I tried to recover it but the
version available to recover is only the last published, all the versions
saved from the last publishing to today are not included on the backup!

Someone could confirm me this? I mean that if someone only save the project
with re-publishing it all the changes are not backed-up.

If this is the situation how can I recover images of the project between two
publications only saved?

Thanks all!

When I tested this last year, the copy in the archive database was always the
most current one, so if a user had saved a previously published project, then
it was the saved version which was archived. Another way of thinking about
this is that the archive database always takes projects from the drafts (or
working store) database. This is my assumption so I'd welcome comments from
others.

I believe that Ben's assumptions are correct in his response to your post
are correct. To add to what he said, do the following:

1. Log into PWA with administrator permissions.
2. Click the Server Settings link in the Quick Launch menu.
3. Click the Schedule Backup link in the Database Administration section.

What value have you specified in the Project Rentention Policy field at the
top of the dialog? If you specified "1" in the field, the system keeps only
the latest copy of each project. In my case, I have the value set to 5.
This means that when I click the Administrative Restore link, I can see up
to five backups of each project and the date they were backed up. I have
the option to select precisely which backup to restore. Hope this
additional info helps.

Yep Thank you all! I set the retention to 10 just to be sure, anyway i am
thinking that what is not published (so what is draft) is not part of the
administrative backups...I am saying this because a Project Manager that
published last time 12/07/07 is recognized by administrative restore as
12/07/07 date version for his project but he made some changes from that day
to 23/07/07 (saving only).

I would find a way to recover draft versions from the db, I am thinking to
recover sql backups on another test machine with sql 2005 installed and
connect to it with project professional via ODBC...Just to have all the 4 db
at another date and bypass the administrative backup restore limit.

Thank you again.
