Adobe Acrobat Reader

I've tried twice to download the upgrade to Adobe Acrobat Reader 8.1.2 (I
think that's the version) Both times it starts and then I get an error
message and that it has to shut down.

Maybe it would be worth a try to download
the complete file to your hard drive and then
install from there.

Thanks. I thought I was downloading to the hard drive. Maybe I was
mistaken. I can look into that other one if this won't work.

I think what you were doing was installing
from the net...I'm suggesting that you download
the complete file to your hard drive (desktop for
example) and install from there.

I just tried again, and (1) it doesn't give me a choice as to where I want
it to download to (i.e. desktop), and (2), it's also trying to download some
photoshop something that I don't want. This is right from the Adobe
website.

That's why I sent you the link from Softpedia...
from there you can download the complete file.

On the install screen you can uncheck the
content you do not wish to install.

John,

Thanks again. I was finally able using Softpedia to download it to my
Desktop. I tried to run it later, but it seemed to be taking too long, and
it's late, so I'll have to try again another time. I didn't see an option on
what content to install, but on the other hand, it only seemed to be the
Reader, not the photoshop.

At least you have the file now...
I hope it installs successfully for you.

I've been trying to install it, and it's been sitting at 6.4% for a couple
of hours. Seems like I'm destined not to have it. What is strange is that
I have v. 7.0 right now and had an earlier version before and somewhere
along the line it must have asked me if I wanted to upgrade and I did,
apparently without all this trouble.

If you have the complete file downloaded
to your hard drive...it should only take a
couple of minutes to install it. Sorry...but
I have no idea what the problem is.

Do yourself a favor. Uninstall all previous versions then try the
installation. I've known some others who have had difficulties when they an
existing version on their system and tried to install a newer version.

Thanks, JoAnn, but I'm afraid to try that. My 7.0 is working fine for me,
and I had so many troubles downloading that v. 8+ to my desktop; I don't
know what might happen if I delete 7.0, and I need it! I think I might be
safer to just stay with that.

If v7 is working for you, stick with it. ;-)

Joy,

Did you ever get this issue resolved? I am having the same problems. Every
couple of days I get a message asking me to update Adobe Reader 8.1.2, but
everytime I try, it says the installation failed. Curious to know if you got
anything to work?

J

JoAnn Paules

Uninstall any other versions on your system, then try again.
