Adressing Cells in Table

Dear experts,

how can I select a certain cell in a table in a column, while in the other
column certain cells are 'connected' vertically? The error message reads that
an addressing of any cell is not possible in a table of which some cells are
connected. But the selection confines itself only to one column, where the
row-numbers should be well-defined.
