Alerts on data in Outlook

Is it possible to have an alert, based on a value in an Access database, sent
to Outlook and create a pop-up reminder?

I have a database about grant projects, and there are many deadlines to be
aware of. When a deadline is approaching, I would like to have access send a
notice to Outlook where it would show up as a calendar reminder, or even a
new email. The point is that it would be a reminder that would operate
without opening the database or report. It wouldn't necessarily have to be an
outlook reminder.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Remember you said any idea's!!! First if Access isn't running it won't do
anything, anywhere, anyhow!. The way to do this would be for Access to
register the event when you load it and if you change it for access to
update the change. Now you said without opening the database or report.
What if user wasn't involved and it opened automatically at system startup.
This is only brain storming but if I were trying to do something like this I
would have access post updates to outlook when opened and before closing.
Also I would use tasks in outlook as you can have it post upcoming
deadlines. If you idle access it can use a timer event to pop up reminders.
All this being said there are many commercial solutions that can do this for
you. So only question is how much time/experience do you have or would it
be easier just to buy something. This isn't an ad, but
http://www.slipstick.com/ offers many links to programs that can do this for
you. As I cannot guess at your expertise in these programs and I know this,
although not above my abilities, it is not in my current bag of tricks and
would require much time, I think I would look for something commercial. V/R
