All my documents are encoded. I don't know how to fix that. There are
choices given but I don't know which one I need. Thanks anyone!

In Word, click on File | Open. In the "Files of type" box, if "Recover text
from any file" is selected, change it to "All Word documents" or "All files".
Select your file, and click on Open. Does the document open properly? If
not, post back with your Word version, and tell us more about what drive you
are opening files from, and and what types of files you are opening.
