All Office Pro 2003 Programs open two applications

Whenever I launch one of Office's Programs (Word, Powerpoint, etc.) it has a
50/50 chance of double-launching, locking up my PC and forcing a hard reboot.
The PC it's on is only two weeks old and has done this from the beginning,
and all updates are installed (including SP2, which I don't know if it could
affect Office). any assistance in sorting out why this is happening would be
appreciated.

If launching from the Quicklaunch Taskbar, only a single click is
required. Double-clicking apps from the Quicklaunch area will attempt to
start 2 instances.

Since it's a brandnew PC and not a "user" issue, I think I would take it
up with the vendor support.
