Also have problem w/KB916521 Update

Like the other posts, I am stuck in a loop with trying to install the Update
for Outlook 2003 Junk Email Filter (KB916521). I have Windows XP Pro, Office
2003 Pro, HP Pavilion Desktop 526x. I tried turning off Norton Antivirus and
even uninstalled it, completely shut down Kerio Firewall, even changed
Startup to only start with System Services and Original BOOT.INI. Nothing
worked, it always fails to install. It installed fine on my Mitlux laptop
with identical software except for Windows XP Home.

Does anyone from Microsoft read these boards? I also tried the full-file
version with same results. Please help if you've figured out how to correct
this problem.

Howdy. Replying to my own post for the benefit of others. I found the
following on this link: http://aumha.net/viewtopic.php?t=19576&

"Found an instance similar to mine: i.e. had used Windows Live Registry
Cleaner before downloading the Kb916521 update.

Advice from Robin Walker [MVP] was to find the backup done by the
aforementiond programme at:
"Documents and Settings|<user>\ApplicationData\Windows Live Safety
Centre\Backup. I then double clicked the .reg file, closed everything down,
manually downloaded and installed the update.

Now everything back to normal, and update is succefully installed. "

I tried this and it also solved my problem. If you have used Windows Live
Safety Center to clean your registry, that could be your problem, too. Best
of luck.
