Analysis Toolbar / Compare Versions - Not Working

J

JMcHugh

Hello -

I was hoping someone might be able to help me. For some odd reason I can
not get any of the functions on the Analysis or Compare Version toolbars to
work (Project 2003). If I click on a particular button nothing will happen
(no error message, nothing).

To start, they were not even available (couldn’t add them through
customizing toolbars). I was able to add them by using a file that had the
toolbars and copying them to my Global.mpt using the Organizer feature.

Thought my problem was solved, but when I add the toolbar none of the
buttons will function.

I tried the following solutions (not necessary in this order), but none them
got the toolbars to function, they only added them:

1. Using Organizer and copy the missing toolbars into my Global.mpt
2. Renaming my Global.mpt to OldGlobal.mpt, let Project create a new one
(which doesn't have the toolbars, and then use Organizer).
3. Re-install
4. An uninstall, followed by an install.

I am running out of ideas, any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jason

You might try these instructions to reset the toolbar:

On the Tools menu, point to Customize, and then click Toolbars.
Click the Commands tab, and then click Tools in the Categories list.
Drag COM Add-Ins from the Commands box over the Tools menu on the menu bar.
When the Tools menu's commands appear, point to where you want the COM
Add-Ins command to appear on the menu, and then release the mouse button.
In the Customize dialog box, click Close.
On the Tools menu, click COM Add-Ins.
In the Add-Ins available list, clear the Compare check box, and then select
the same check box to reset. do this for other toolbar buttons as well. Click
OK. This will re-set the wizard add-in.
The Copy Picture to Office wizard will now appear as a button on the
Analysis Toolbar.

Thanks, but unfortunately it didn't work.

I tried going down the COM Add-In road before, but when I open the dialog
box has nothing for me to add. I think that these features are part of the
2003 version, not add-ins.

Also, I have the toolbar showing, it just doesn't work when I click on any
of the buttons.

Thanks,
Jason

Hi Jason,

I don't know if this will help or not, but it may help guide you to a
solution.

[Big Fat Disclaimer: I also have Project 2002 installed, but I believe
the DLL referenced below belongs to Project 2003]

In looking at my installation of MS Project 2003 Professional SP-2, the
Compare Project Versions Utility does show as a COM Add-In with the
following DLL
Compprj.dll

The file is located at the installation point for Project 2003. I also
noticed the file being referenced in part of the installation for SP-2
although I think it is, as you noted, now part of the installation.

You may try searching for the dll file and see if it exists. Then in
the COM Add-In dialog box see if you can add it.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

You did it! That worked.

Thank you.
