Animated Graphics

I can download these from the MS site but can't get them
to animate in Word or Powerpoint (v2002) - is this
possible?

Animated GIFs in Word retain their animation properties
but the animations will work only when the file is viewed
or saved as a web page document.

In Powerpoint animated GIFs will work during the playing of
a presentation (slide show) but not when viewed on the editing screen.
