Is there a compatibility list for what animations that can be used between
Office 2003 and ealier editions of Powerpoint?
Thank you

Depends on what you mean by earlier. All animations are compatible between
2003 and 2002 (XP). When you go back to 2000, you loose all the Exit and
Motion Path animations, most of the Emphasis ones, and even some of the
Entrance ones.

If you are building a presentation to be used on a "pre-PowerPoint 2002"
machine, you should start (before you begin to apply animations) by going to
the options dialog and turning off some of the advanced features. To do
this, click on Tools => Options => Edit (tab) => and place check marks in
each of the lower three options.

Another option would be to distribute the free 2003 PPT Viewer program.
This will run and show the advanced animations even without the machine
having a current version of Office installed.
