animation on powerpoint 97

i can't seem to view downloaded animations on my PPT97, it just appears as a
picture and it does not animate as per what i saw on the website whn i
downloaded it. please help!

The technology for animated gifs came out after PowerPoint 97 so it does not
know how to handle it. You will need PowerPoint 2000, 2002, or 2003 to view
them (or the free PowerPoint 2003 Viewer). If you are developing
PowerPoints though, you will need to upgrade your version to one of the
three listed above.
