Animation Timing

I have about 5 photos and text on the same page. I would like to time them so
that the first photo and text show up and then 5 seconds later the next text
and photo come up...and so on. I have that part working great. What I need is
for the first photo and text to fade about 5 seconds after it appears so that
when the second set appears it is gone. I don't see how to do this because
the option that I have (in PPT2003) is to "hide after animation" which
QUICKLY makes it hide after it appears. I want it to disappear just before
the next appears. Is that possible???

Go into the animations you have set and remove the 'hide after animation.'
Now select each group and apply an EXIT animation >> FADE OUT. Set this
animation to WITH PREVIOUS and set the delay to 5 seconds. Apply to each
group to achieve a flowing fade in / fade out animation sequence.

Hmmm. My version is PPT 2000 SP3. I don't see how to obtain Exit
animation. I couldn't find anytdhing about that under Help, either. Is
that option not available on my older version?

Only available in 2002 and 2003, not 2000 or 97. Those versions basically
have a way to animate an object on the slide only.

Does not come with version 2000.
