[ANN] GrayScaleTool Add-In

J

Jim Gordon

I've just created an add-in that doesn't do much. In fact it doesn't do
anything new at all. And I am trying to sell this thing.

The add-in is called GrayScaleTool. It's not for everyone.

The add-in generates a persistent toolbar that organizes PowerPoint’s
existing grayscale printing options and has buttons that set the print
dialog box to grayscale printing automatically. PowerPoint 2003
automatically makes a subset of this toolbar when you choose to use the
grayscale options from the View menu, so you only get persistence and
printing options in addition to the grayscale controls.

It's purpose is to make it convenient for large organizations (such as
higher education institutions) to deploy a solution for the problem of
students sending full color printouts of slides instead of handouts or
notes to shared black and white laser printers. The printer drivers get
bogged down converting PowerPoint's color output into grayscale.
Students don't notice the grayscale settings and handout settings in the
Print dialog box and don't use the handout and notes options.

Also, there are some people who simply like to print in grayscale (black
and white) because they like the way it looks or to save on color ink.

The add-in is completely cross-platform. It works on PowerPoint 2003 for
Windows. It works on PowerPoint 2004, v.X, 2001, and 98 on the
Macintosh. It's only been tested in US English. If you want to try it in
another language send an email to me and I'll give you a free copy if
you promise to A: communicate with me in English and B: Let me know the
results. Only 1 free copy per language. You should be able to figure out
my email address if you consider that "hot" is "warmerthanwarm."

It's $15 US for a single copy, $10 Academic. There is special pricing
for bundles and site licenses, too.

Like I said, don't expect a lot from this toolbar. It has a very
specific purpose - printing in grayscale.

Thanks.
