Annotating Network Diagram View

M

MWE

I am running Project2000. I wish to add annotation to the Network Diagram
View of a given project. The annotation could be in any readable form that
stays approx where I place it. Something akin to a "textbox" in
Excel/Word/etc would be fine.
There is no need for it to be linked to a task (but that option would be
nice). I tried creating a new type of task box and linking the display to
the task's Notes field. That works, but the box can be only "so big" and,
thus, I am severely limited re how much text can be displayed for a given
"text box". Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I am pretty good with VBA and have done a modest amount of VBA for
MSProject, so that will be my next avenue of exploration. But before I do
that, I was hoping that I have overlooked something simplier.

Thanks

Have you tried using the Drawing toolbar and using text boxes? They
could be as big as you like. I don't recall if they can be attached to
a ND box, but you could check that out.
As for staying where you put them, I don't think they will if you zoom,
but I don't remember.

Hope this helps in your world.

Thanks for the reply. The drawing toolbar does not work in the Network
Diagram View (that was the first thing I tried). The on-line documentation
(HELP) states that the drawing toolbar only works in the Gantt Chart view.

Hi MWE,

You're quite correct, the drawing tools are only available in the Gantt
Chart area. I don't know of any way to do what you want. Right click the
network box gives an option to go to Task Notes..., and I think that's the
best youll get. I'm not sure whether vba would help, you could try posting
on the developer newsgroup. Please see FAQ Item: 24. Project Newsgroups.

My bad! That's what I get for trying to do this from memory. Especially
with a memory like mine!
