Any way to prevent two tasks from overlapping?

Suppose we have two crews working on a house project. One crew is going to be
re-roofing and another crew re-siding. Suppose further that we don't care
which starts first, but that they cannot both be working at the same time for
safety reasons. How can this be so constrained?

You can create a dummy material resource and assign that to both tasks.
Levelling will then prevent the being scheduled at the same time.

This doesn't work. Leveling doesn't deal with material resources as
materials are always considered to be infinite in supply, that is to say,
availability of materials isn't considered by the scheduling/leveling
alogrithm.

Hi,

I consider leveling to be the solution indeed.
But a crew is a work resoruces isn't it? Why would it be material?
And when you talk to those guys, they wouldn't appreciate to be called dummy
either :))

We run into this fairly often, and we use Trevor's approach -- they are just
FS to one another. So we just link P-A-B-S. If it turns out "B" wants to
start first, then we make the change in linkage at that time and link P-B-A-S.

Nothing says you have to leave the links alone during execution. So, no one
has to be a dummy or a wooden post. :)

Sorry - my mistake.
You are correct - it is a work resource that needs to be leveled.
