Appointment Alarm doesn't work

W

Webbert

I recently rebuilt my machine and re-installed Outlook 2007 and am now
connected to a different exchange server from before.

The alarm icon doesn't show up on the appointments when looking at the
calendar and I don't get popup reminders.
If I open each appointment, the reminder is set for 15 min.

I verified Tools -> Options -> Calendar
[X] Default reminder: 15 min

I tried
outlook.exe /resetfolders
outlook.exe /cleanreminders
outlook.exe /cleanviews

I do get an error during Outlook Send/Receive
! Task 'Microsoft Exchange' reported error (0x800401f): 'The operation
failed. An object cannot be found'

the error sounds like an address book error - it shouldn't affect the
reminder though. how did you move the outlook data to the new machine? Did
you make a totally new profile? Did you use office diagnostics yet?

I did replace the files in C:\Users\Dave\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook
after I had rebuilt the machine. The first time I started outlook I had
to create a new profile and enter the server information.

I was unaware of the office diagnostics tests.
I found it and ran it.
Status of all tests are completed successfully with no errors or warnings.

I assume office diagnostics didn't fix it? if not, for the reminders,
reboot the computer and immediately use the outlook.exe /cleanreminders
switch.

do you have contacts in the address book when you press To while composing
email?
if you right click the Contacts folder and choose Properties then Outlook
Address Book - is the box to enable as email address book grayed out?

you should also make a test profile with fresh data and see if it works.
one of the files you moved over may be causing issues. I'd probably do
this before rebooting only because it takes me forever to reboot (too much
crap running :)).

Diagnostics didn't fix the reminders.
Do I have contacts when clicking TO: -- Yes
Is the box to enable grayed out -- Yes

Created a new Profile with Mail Setup -> Profiles
Connected to same Exchange Server -- Reminders still don't work

I tried these switches before, but not after a reboot will try again
Thanks for all your help

The grayed out box means the profile is corrupt. The new profile should
have eliminated the send error.

Tools, Options, Other, Advanced, Reminder Options - are they enabled?

Started from scratch.
Sent all data to archive, removed all files, reinstalled outlook, created
new profile.
Reminders are working again and no errors.

One thing to note, the contact check box is still grey and disabled. As it
doesn't seem to be creating any problems, I'm not going to worry about it.

Thanks for all your help.
