appointment reminders don't popup (Outlook 2007)

I have had this problem since it was downloaded. I have also tried this
solution and still no popup: run: outlook.exe /resetfolders /cleanreminders.
Thanks for any solution to allowing reminders for appointments to popup and
alert me.
