How do I recover these files? They're unreadable (Outlook 97/8)

Explain "unreadable" -- error messages? other symptoms?

If I go to the location for the archived .pst files (My Documents) and

click, I just get pages of square boxes and symbols.

Perhaps I need to open with another programme?
Could you reply to my email address direct?

You can only open a pst file with Outlook.

You can open a .pst file only in Outlook: File | Open | Outlook Data File
(Personal Folders File)
