Archiving PST files

D

Don Niall

Hi all,

I currently have an 'Archive Folders' appearing in my
Outlook bar as a result of importing an 'old' PST file ...
What is the recommended way to 'remove' this view and
files from Outlook once I have 'recovered' the archive
data required? I dont want 'old' PST data to be sitting on
my computer, so I dont just want to remove the 'view' (so
to speak) - but also the data ...

Thx,

Don-

Let's make sure you understand what you said before you go blowing data
away. Importing a PST would not create nor would it open Archive Folders in
your Profile. Only archiving information would create or open an Archive PST
file. Examine carefully the contents of these Archive Folders to make sure
you really do not want the data it contains. Also note its location. Then R
click and close it while Outlook is running. Then close Outlook and reboot.
Now you can delete the file from the location you noted earlier. Be aware
that if you have autoarchiving enabled, it will be recreated the next time
your archiving interval is reached.
