Are 100 keyboard shortcuts too many?

I'm a keyboard person with a good memory.

I presently have about 75-100 customizations (mostly
keyboard shortcuts, some autotext, etc.) on my machine.
Will these shortcuts affect in a harmful way how Word
runs or will it slow down operations at work? I want to
perform my job as efficiently as possible but not
disadvantageously to others or the computer system of the
firm.

I suspect there are many users who have more than this. If you don't notice
any effect on performance, then I wouldn't worry. The only effect I would
expect this to have would be an increase in the size of Normal.dot, which
might make Word take a few seconds longer to load when you start the
program, but that's all. Perhaps other, more knowledgeable users will
contribute their views, however.

No to all questions. As the shortcuts will probably be stored in YOUR
normal.dot, it cannot affect other users either.

I have, ahem, 425 key assignments in my Normal template, and it doesn't
seem to have any adverse effect on Word's operation.

By the way, are you aware that you can assign a key to the command that
opens the Customize Keyboard dialog box, so that you don't have to do
Tools, Customize, Keyboard each time?

The built-in command, under All Commands, is ToolCustomizeKeyboard.

Also, I have a macro that opens the Customize Keyboard dialog box with
the focus already in the Macros pane, so that I don't have to manually
choose Macros in the left pane and then manually shift the focus to the
right pane. Saves three steps each time. When you're using that dialog
box a lot, that's a lot of saved steps.
