assign low task resources/week

Philip

I want to assign 1 week of work to a task that takes 8weeks.
Problem: only two decimals are allowed. When i put 0,125 (1/8) MSproject
converts it automatically to 0,13. Due to this my final workload is to high.
How can I assign the 1 week to the 8 weeks task or insert 0,125 weeks for
each task week?
kindest regards,
Philip

If you really need to do it this precisely, use the split screen (Window,
Split) and instead of designating the resource percentage, use the form on
the bottom half of the screen to assign the number of hour and let Project
calculate the percentage. With the default calendar, 8 weeks is 320 hours
while 1 week is 40 hours. Set the task duration to 8 weeks, and work hours
to 40.

That all being said, consider whether you really need to worry about it.
12.5% assignment is 40 hours, 13% assignment is 41.6 hours. Remember until
you actually do the work, the value of the work required for the task is
only an estimate and actuals with a variance of +/- 10% or so against the
estimate is considered to be accurate estimating. An error of 0.5% is so
trivial as to be not worth any concern at all. It's a rare human endeavor
where worrying about an hour or two over the course of 2 months makes any
sense.
