Assigning Multiple Users to Outlook Tasks

I'm trying to use outlook as a central location for engineering
assignments.
The trouble we have is that engineers work in teams of two and so the
task has to be sent out to both parties with one of them accepting.
I've noticed on Outlook that we get no updates on the tasks when they
are assigned to multiple users. Is there a way of getting around this?
