attachments from mac to PC

My partner used to have difficulties sending attachments
from her apple MAC at work to our PC at home. This went
away until we have just upgraded our home PC. WHen she
sends an attachment the name of the attached files appears
in the 'subject' box and there are no attachments to open.
Can anybody help us with this??
