attachments winmail.dat

When I forward an e-mail message with an attachment, some of the receipients
will get a winmail.dat (or similar) attachment instead of the original
attachment. I have tried to change the format from RTF to html or plain text
with no success.

The only way I can get the attachment to the receipients is either to save
it and create a new message and attach it or by right clicking the e-mail,
choose Outlook properties.., and chage Internet format from "Let Outlook
decide the best sending format" to "Send Plain Text only".

Do anyone have a solution for this problem?

This can be due to a configuration in the contact records for those people
who see the winmail.dat file and it is due to sending in RTF, usually.

When pdf's disapear after you send them or someone receives it as a
winmail.dat file your email account setup for sending format is NOT the only
place you have to turn off Rich Text Format for sending emails. You must
also change the rich text format in the email address properties in your
address book for the person you are sending to. double click on the email
address to bring up the email address properties and change it to let outlook
decide. The address book properties over ride what you choose in your email
account set up.
