Auto area code?

Outlook 2000. When I put in a 7 digit phone number for a contact Outlook
automatically displays it as a 10 digit number (it adds the area code). How
do I get it to stop this? I only want the 7 digit number displayed.

You can't. Masking of the phone number is automatic and hard coded.

I noticed when I sync with my Palm, if it was entered into the Palm as 7
digits it stays that way.
