Auto fil

Autofil does not work logically. It only copies the first
value.

In Edit-->fill -->Series - series is not avaialbe (gray).

No smart tag is available.

How can this be fixed?

are we talking about trying to autofil with numbers?

if so, hold down your control key while filling (let the mouse go first &
then the control key) OR enter two numbers in the squence, select both &
then autofill.

Dear Julie,

Yeah - but pressing ctrl does not solve anything. In fact the happens
as if the ctrl is permanently pressed (which it is not).

FYI the series command (EDIT --> FILL --> SERIES) is grey
(unavailable). It does not show when I right-click on the little fill
drag + at the bottom of the cells area I try to use the autofill
function with. No autofill options little tag. Nada.

Dragging only copies the values (as if the ctrl key was pressed) along
the dragged area but it would not fill. Just copy the first value
(even if I try to 'teach' the fill rule).

Please note that other pages in the same spreadsheet file behave
normally. They show the SERIES command at the EDIT menu and the series
box shows up when I drag. The auto fill fundtion is working well. It
is only in this sheet (page) that I have the problem.

Could it be related to the fact that in this sheet I used some pivot
tables and charts? I later moved the PIVOT tables and charts to
another sheet (in the same Excel file)?

Sounds like the worksheet is "protected".

What option is available when you go to Tools>Protection?

Either of "Protect sheet" or "Unprotect sheet"?
